Bikes, Back Bay, and New Friends: Thursday Ride Highlights

This week’s Thursday ride brought together riders for a relaxed spin around the scenic Back Bay in Newport. We covered about 30 miles at a comfortable pace, with plenty of time to take in the coastal views, chat, and enjoy the ride.
For me, the best part wasn’t the scenery, but the people. Every ride is an opportunity to meet new faces who share the same love for bikes and the simple joy of being out on the road. Getting to know others who feel that same spark is what keeps me excited to roll out week after week.
Along the way, I introduced the group to the basics of drafting and riding in a pace line. If you haven’t tried it before, it’s a small shift that makes a big difference. By taking turns at the front and riding close behind one another, the group moves more smoothly and efficiently. It’s a rhythm that creates connection and trust between riders. Watching everyone pick it up and settle into the flow was one of the highlights of the day.
These rides remind me why I guide in the first place. It’s not only about the miles we cover, but the moments we share, the conversations, the learning, and the camaraderie that come from spending a few hours on two wheels together.
If this sounds like your kind of ride, I’d love to have you join us. Our Thursday rides are open to anyone who enjoys cycling, whether you’re looking to build skills, discover new roads, or just share some miles with good company. Come ride with us next week and see what it’s all about.
